A new tennis film depicting the relationship between Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf will screen later this summer.
Perfect Match, which will premiere on June 28 on Amazon Prime, stars German actress Lena Klenke and British actor Toby Sebastian. The latter is best-known for his role as Trystane Martell in HBO’s Game of Thrones.
Graf and Agassi, both 54, have 30 Grand Slam titles between them; Graf is the record holder for the most weeks spent as world No 1 on the WTA Tour.
They married in 2001 and have two children, Jaden, 22, and Jaz, 20.
Agassi documented much of their courtship, which was on-and-off for nine years, in his autobiography, Open, including having his hopes of dancing with Graf at the 1992 Wimbledon Champions Ball spurned when organizers cancelled the event. “I was thunderstruck, dazzled by her understated grace, her effortless beauty,” he wrote.
Perfect Match joins Challengers, the film starring Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist, in attempting to translate the sport’s unique relationship between players on-and-off court to film.
It will premiere in the same month as a documentary following the last days of Roger Federer’s career; Netflix is already in production on another documentary following the fortunes of Carlos Alcaraz.
