Simona Halep received an offer from Ion Tiriac, at a time when medical issues are troubling her.
Ion Tiriac proposed to Simona Halep to become the director of the WTA tournament in Bucharest.
However, our athlete refused, as her schedule does not allow her to be at the tournament daily.
“Mr. Cosmin Hodor is the tournament director, I hoped it would be Miss Halep, but she still has a problem this week and cannot be here all the time. We will call her an honorary director, we have to call her somehow,” said Ion Tiriac.
Present at the event, Simona announced that she hopes to return to the circuit at the end of October.
“It’s hard to say now because I’m still recovering with my knee, I plan to go play a tournament in Hong Kong at the end of October.
I really wish for it, because I miss it, I feel the lack of competition and I hope to be healthy and ready to play. That’s the plan for now,” said Simona Halep.
Simona played her first match after her return in March, in Miami, where she was eliminated in the first round by Paula Badosa.
Then she had to withdraw in the first round of the Clarince Trophee due to medical issues.
