LeBron James and Bronny James made history at the very beginning of the 2024-2025 NBA by being the first father-son duo to share the court. They did it in Los Angeles Lakers’ season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
As well as in the court, both were at the press conference after the game. They took the opportunity to express their feelings and what it meant to play alongside each other for the first time in an official game.
Same room, different statements
LeBron, being more used to speaking with the media, appeared more at ease than his son, who kept his responses short and direct. In contrast, LeBron spoke more freely, sharing deep reflections he had likely been waiting to express for a long time.
“That moment us being at the score table together and checking-in together is something I would never forget. No matter how old I get I would never forget that moment. Everything was great today,” said LeBron James.
“I felt pretty good. I tried not to focus on what is going on around me and try to focus on going in as a rookie and not trying to mess up but I totally feel the energy,” said Bronny James.
Surely this won’t be the last time we see both sharing the stage and the media press table. But we have to keep in mind that this is an historical event. And as such, it is likely that we don’t see it again anytime soon with other athletes.
