It’s official: Jannik Sinner confirms new relationship with Anna Kalinskaya
There were two top storylines going into Roland Garros as far as Jannik Sinner was concerned: the health of his hip, which forced him out of Rome and how he could leave Paris with the world No. 1 ranking.
But now, there’s another news item for the list: a blooming relationship with WTA player Anna Kalinskaya.
Sinner reportedly confirmed their couple status in the Italian portion of his post-match press conference on Monday in Paris following his first-round defeat of American Christopher Eubanks in straight sets.
“You know, I don’t like to talk much about my private life,” Sinner said in his native language. “Yes, I’m with Anna, but we keep everything very confidential. I won’t say more.”
The Italian is notoriously private as it pertains to his personal life, even prior to becoming a Grand Slam winner: Sinner had previously been romantically linked to Italian model Maria Braccini since 2020, but the couple has been rumored to split earlier this year.
“I want to protect the people closest to me, keeping them out of this,” the Italian told *Vanity Fair* earlier this year. “I see it as a small task to carry out, almost a duty: they helped me, when I was young, to gain self-confidence, and today in some way I want to protect them.”
For weeks now, the rumor mill as it pertained to a new touring couple had been churning. From speculation over phone calls, to eagle eyes spotting them at dinner together, fans were going out of their way to prove that Kalinskaya and Sinner’s relationship existed.
But now, speculation can rest for certain as fans finally have the answer they craved (however brief it was): “Kalinskinner” is official.
The Parisian launch happened equally quickly. Sinner and Kalinskaya were seen on court together just before the tournament began, and she was spotted supporting him during his first-round match. Later on Monday, during her own opener against Clara Burel, Sinner was spotted in her box.
Kalinskaya awaits the winner of the first round between Bianca Andreescu and Sorribes Tormo, and Sinner will next take of Frenchman Richard Gasquet. The two are expected to play on Wednesday, May 29, and now their player-box support will be just as much of an expectation as well.
At #rolandgarros Anna Kalinskaya is watching the match Sinner-Eubanks on Court Suzanne Lenglen. There had been rumors of a possible dating situation between Sinner and Kalinskaya in the days leading to the tournament
Kalinskaya and Sinner now join the ranks of ATP and WTA couples including Tsitsidosa, who are now back together as Stefanos Tsitsipas proclaimed that Paula Badosa is his ‘person’, Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur, and married pair Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils.
