Taylor Fritz clears the air on ‘destructive habits’ remark about his unhealthy lifestyle after US Open final loss
Taylor Fritz has clarified his “destructive habits” comment about his unhealthy lifestyle after the 2024 US Open final loss to top seed Sinner.
In a recent appearance on the ‘Nothing Major Podcast’ with Sam Querrey, John Isner, Steve Johnson, and Jack Sock, Fritz confessed to developing “destructive habits,” such as spending up to 12 hours a day playing video games and indulging in unhealthy eating as a way to cope with his defeat at the New York Major.
“To be honest, I feel worse I would have expected. I’ve been sitting at my desk playing video games like 12 hours a day, eating pretty unhealthy,” Fritz said.
However, in response to a post on X, quoting these remarks, Fritz clarified that his message was misunderstood, explaining that his video game playing and unhealthy eating were actually part of his recovery process.
“This makes it sound bad. The gaming and the eating was more celebratory, it’s pretty normal for me to decompress like this for 2/3 days after weeks on the road, always been part of my process and helps me feel ready to get back to work,” the American tennis star wrote.
